About the Practice
The name of our practice originates not only from the founder’s last name, but also from the origin of the word “hamlet” itself. “Hamlet” is synonymous with “home,” “haven,” and “little village.”
In our work with young people and their families, our practice is aware that it takes a village to support and foster healthy development and to help individuals to achieve their goals. In our work with clients of all ages, it is our mission to be collaborative not just with our clients, but also with the support system that extends into other key areas of their lives (ie, school, family and friends, medical care). The concept of our practice as a “home” or “haven” is also at the forefront of our approach to therapeutic work. We strive to maintain a small, yet strong safe haven for our clients in our therapy practice, so that clients feel nurtured and contained while working on what matters most to them.
We consider our clients as central members of their own individual hamlets, their own communities; and we view ourselves as members of our client’s village. Our work is evidence based, solution focused, flexible in how we consider what is needed for each individual person, and most especially, done with the high level of care that one would expect from a member of their own community, their own hamlet.
About the Founder
My dream of building a private practice was influenced by the tight-knit, beachside community I grew up in.
I saw family members building small businesses that were woven into the fabric of my town. Whether it was a real estate agency, a photography business, a surf shop, or a financial planning business, I was inspired by the impact they had on the community. By investing in their passions, each business succeeded because they focused first on the people they were serving.
I started a practice to focus on my passion of building a business of my own, innovating in the field, and placing a greater focus on the therapist-client relationship. As the founder, I can allocate my time and resources to what I love most - connecting with my patients and their families, and helping achieve their goals, so as to allow clients to thrive in their own communities.
